Hi! We’re Corey and Laura Jacobs. I guess you want to know who we are since you clicked on the Bio page. Hmmm…

Corey joined staff with Adventures in Missions 3 years ago. Right out of high school he signed up for the First Year Missionary program and shipped off to Mexico. After being a participant, he then came back as staff at the Mexico base. In January 2006 he went as a translator with the World Race Brown Team for a month. While there, he met this really awesome girl named Laura. But of course, he and Laura are both focused on their mission work, so after a month, Corey went back to Mexico and Laura continued on around the world.

For the next 10 months, Corey and Laura emailed and occasionally got to talk on the phone. Corey served in Mexico with FYM (http://www.adventures.org/a/fym/), then led an Ambassador trip to Ireland over the summer (http://www.adventures.org/a/nextstep/sum_am.asp), and then FYM in the Dominican Republic that fall. Laura served in 11 countries through the course of 11 months (http://www.theworldrace.org/). Over Christmas, Corey came and met Laura’s parents, then Corey and Laura flew to Wisconsin and met Corey’s family, and on New Year’s Day 2007 they got engaged. A week later, Corey flew back to the Dominican Republic to complete his commitment there. Laura flew to Mexico to train the next group of World Racers and then back home to Texas for wedding planning. After another 6 months apart, Corey flew to Texas, they spent a month together, and today are happily married!

Sounds crazy, huh? In some ways it probably is. The part I left out though is how incredibly faithful God is and was through the whole process to make His plans known, loud and clear. The whole story is riddled with moments when God showed up and said “Hey Laura… my plan for you includes Corey” or “Hey Corey… this relationship with Laura is in my will.” It’s so amazing to live a life, listening to God’s whispers moment by moment walking through life directed by His voice!

Now, Corey and Laura live in Gainesville, Georgia and serve on staff with Adventures in Missions. Laura is an administrator for World Race, mobilizing and training future teams to go out. Corey is part of the leadership team for the interns here in Gainesville, helping to disciple them and to coordinate ministries around town. They recognize God calling them into full-time ministry overseas, and it appears that includes opening a coffee shop in Ireland. Right now they are focused on building the foundation of their marriage and training for their future overseas. In Gainesville they have a pastor teaching them on church planting, a local coffee shop owner teaching them about the business and allowing them to help renovate the upstairs for a church plant, and multiple mentors pouring into them! What a great place to be!!!

Thanks for visiting the blog… no promises to post “regular” updates… but keep checking back. You never know what you’ll find!!!
